No. However it may be illegal for that dating to progress to a sexual relationship.

As long as you keep everything above the waist, I don't see any issue.

The age difference may seem like a lot, but that's really only because you're both young. As you grow older, a two year difference is insignificant. You're still a teenager though, so if you and him are different kinds of teenagers that could be an issue.

But teenagers are pretty much just giant balls of issues anyway, so just go for it.

You're only a teenager once, and you should shoot for whoever makes you happy.

Socially? Not at all. Two years I think is perfectly fine.
Legally in some places there's some oddities happening when one person is above and one is below the age of consent. This usually allows for a certain gap though and typically two years is still allowed.

Mentally. Very much so. Think of when you were 16 and how old 18 sounded. How much you have to go through between 16 and 18. It’s a lot.  Not the same as a 25 and 27 yr old.

I am assuming this question is years old and that you guys are probably both adults, but just in case anyone is wondering: No, it's not.

Most people might claim it is, but it's not:

1 - The legality:

The age of consent in most states is 16. That means that it's legally fine and allowed. You still might want to check your local laws

2 - Maturity difference / Potential power imbalance:

Both of y'all are in high school, so. NO. It's not socially wrong either. However, some people might raise eyebrows, but that's about it.

If it's consensual, go for it.

No but I am biased by being there... biggest qualm is likely around drinking age (here in the UK that is 18) so spending evenings with a girlfriend and a bottle of great vodka or champagne was a regular even even if admitidly I passed for 18 and drank at work as well

Depends where you are. Everyone knows there's barely a difference between a 16 and 18 year old, but that's not exactly how the law views things... most laws are enforced without even considering the nature of the reason for its existence. In my opinion, an 18 year old dating a 16 year old is about as far from sexual predator behavior as you can get lol... buuuut the law may not see it that way... I think as long as the parents are okay with it you'll be fine

Yes.

You may be an adult that can now legally make your own decisions, but you are still just a kid with VERY little life experience. A 16 yo guy is way less mature, physically and mentally, and men mature slower than women in general.

It might be OK to kiss and hug, but if you're thinking about sex, you're taking a risk that can lead you (and him) into trouble.

To date? No. To have sex? Check the age of consent laws where you live. Many places have a higher than 16 age of consent and some of those do not include close in age exceptions. In California, for example, it is always illegal to have sex with someone 17 years, 364 days old or younger unless the person is emancipated or your spouse.
