Is it wrong to date a 20 y/o at 16?

Before anything I must say I knew him before he turned 20 it would be creepy if I didn’t. I met him 2 years ago when he was 18 and I was 14 I shortly turned 15 a month or so later. We have been close friends because he had a girlfriend at the time. They broke up and we started talking more and we had feelings for each other.

This year he turned 20 a few days ago I turn 16 in 2 months. I forgot his age I didn’t really think about it until it just came to me that he just turned 20. He met my mom and everything he’s very respectful and all that good stuff. I would like to add I’m young and don’t know everything so I’m asking for advice and help.

( Don’t think because I’m younger than him he’s taking advantage of me we just kiss sometimes and I’m a little feisty so I stand up for myself and always confront problems. I try to stop little problems before they get bigger)

I would never be with someone who is 20 and I’m just meeting them😂 the only reason he’s an option is bc I knew him before he was 20

I was in your shoes. I was 13 and he was 17. We met through a game. We dated. I forgot to tell him my age. We talked more on Instagram. He ended the relationship he had with me because he didn't want to get in trouble for dating a 16-year-old when he was 20. I respected that. We still talk. I am going to say that it isn't wrong to date him. It wouldn't make him a pedophile since you aren't kid. You're a kid in a way, but you're in the middle scale of becoming an older teenager. I know 16 year olds can give consent, they just need to be mature enough for it. As long as you are mature enough to be in a relationship, then it shouldn't be a problem. You'll also have to watch out for the law, even though nobody has to know that a 20yo is dating a 16yo. If the age of consent is 16, then you're fine with the law. Someone did tell me that when someone says that they are 16, is different when they aren't. You do not have to worry about people saying that, because you two have known each other for years in person.

20 Year old with a 15 year old in my country is illegal if you had sex it would be considered statuary rape as they say a 15 year old is not at the age where they can make decisions like that so it could really effect them in the future,

You're country/state i guess is considered legal like you said.

I think if you feel like you know what you're doing and you feel like you're making the right decisions and he hasn't asked you to do anything to make you feel uncomfortable in any way then you're okay! Just make sure you know how to say no to things if it comes to it and be safe!

Well for one thing it is probably illegal, he can't take you across state lines.

yes. its weird of a 20 year old to want to date a 16 year old.

i almost got pressured into dating a 21 yr old at 15 and he turned out to be a major creep and called me a slut when i said no. Fully grown adults being into children is a red flag even if he seems nice right now.
