Guys, A guy I met on a dating app asked me on a date, what I'm looking for and then told me he would move away in 2 years, what does this mean?

I dont know if he was being polite but he kept touching my arm and smiling, it's sad he's leaving in 2 years, but it sounds like he's not interested in me if he told me he was moving out of state in 2 years

No I would disagree with the "he is not interested part." I would say if he was just looking to hook up or for sex he would never of told you he was leaving in two years.

What it really means is that he is very interested in you on a committed relationship level, but he was to be honest with you. If you do not see yourself as someone that would ever fall in love with any and move away with him or maintain a long distance relationship with some one in 2 years then you shouldn't invest in a relationship with him. But two years is really a long time in the dating world... lots of things can change in the course of two years. Lots of people who meet some neve see themselves married to them within next two years... but it happens all the time.

Moving away is something that you would never consider right now ever doing, but some thing might happen that would change that within 2 years. Or you could date this guy for 6 months, and it just doesn't work out. Or you could fall deeply in love with him, or in two years he could change his mind about leaving. I am just saying you should put too much on this right now... if you think you like this guy. Give it some time there are a lot of open ended possibilities for now.

Regardless I think it speaks to his character that he was so honest and upfront about it, and if I was you I would not discount the possibilities of dating him. He might be a really great guy, and he might not... that is always the risk no matter who he is.

Apparently he's interested in you, that's why he told you he's leaving in two years, because he wants to know if you're okay with that. It can determine the next steps how things evolve between you two. I think he was frank, he made his move, it's your turn now. Think it through, give it some time.
