My crush and I are different race. I’m a WOC (indian) and he’s Chinese. I honestly don’t have the guts to ask him this question (if race and skin colour matters in a relationship to him) cause I’m afraid that his answer might hurt me and I honestly think that it matters to him. It sucks tbh. So to all my Chinese friends, would you date an Indian girl? And whyy? Please do give me more context on why you would cause I don’t wanna feel insecure about my race and skin colour because of a boy. I don’t think it’s worth it. I’ve been pretty confident and comfortable with my race and skin colour recently especially after being bullied for most my elementary and high school life. But I’m afraid that I’m gonna fall back into being insecure about it. Pleaseeee helppp!!

People underestimate how big of a gap they need to cross in order to have a steady interracial relationship.
Think of questions like
How will you treat each others parents?
How many kids do you plan to have?
Who works? The man or the woman or both?
How much hours will they work? "Just enough" or "as much as possible" ?

Those questions and more will vary from culture to culture. And it REALLY messes up interracial relationships.

I had Chinese friends and Korean friends who were boys. One of my Korean boy best friends had a crush on me. He tried to make a move on me. However, I was the one who didn't give in because of cultural differences at the time. I am Indian. Hence, it runs both ways. It's not necessarily due to race and color, but due to culture. In the long run, it's harder to be with someone from a completely different culture. But why not give it a shot, if you like this guy? If he likes you, then great. IF not, there's plenty of fish in the sea.

Im a white guy, I dated a Latina. It was really great getting to know the culture and eliminating stereo types that most would think of Hispanic culture. In fact the amount of hospitality demonstrated hands down would outdo anything my own family could do. The celebrations and parties were fun! The Biggest thing, keep your mind and heart open. Its not about skin colour for me. Its about compatibility of customs, lifestyles and traditions.

As a Chinese dude living in a multiracial society (Singapore), I can very confidently say, the Indian lifestyle you lead is very different from the Chinese lifestyle, from food preferences to culture and way of life. Sometimes the parents object to it as well.

I personally would be willing to give it a shot, but cannot guarantee if it will work out.
