This relationship is doomed for multiple reasons. You do not seem to trust him since you asked this question. I would strongly advice you to go with your gut feeling. I have many online friends and many of those, I have not seen their faces, but I do trust them and know for sure that they are not catfishes. I have known them for a long time, and catfishes do not stick around for long anyway.

However, in YOUR case, since I do not know this friend of yours like you do, I would recommend you be cautious. He could be self conscious about his looks or may just want to remain private. But if you are romantically interested in him and have absolutely no plans to meet up, this is not exactly a relationship that is worth pursuing. You would have much better luck finding someone in your own locality and could prevent issues such as this. As another user has mentioned, he could also be too young, but you could always tell by the way one speaks, though, often not a tell tale sign.

See this, I'll never understand. 6 months and not seeing his face? I wouldn't go more than a day without seeing his face before blocking him. But I prefer dating in real life. I can't date online or through texting. The apps are meant to get you meeting in real life. He's hiding something or married or deeply insecure in ways you may not want to take on. I'd cut it off if I were you. You can try giving him an ultimatum, but only through video, not photos. He could use someone else's photo.

But really, you should just cut this off in my opinion.

You better run. Plausible reasons include: he’s a catfish that’s out to scam you of your money (very common), he’s not who he says he is - might be a much older man, he has a girlfriend/wife and just wants something secretive on the side (maybe nudes etc).
On the bright side, there’s a chance he’s probably feeling very self-conscious and has low self-esteem. He might be worried that he’s not good looking enough for you, or that you might ghost him because he’s not as handsome as you thought he would be.

Don't! There's absolutely no legitimate reason anybody would talk to someone for 6 months and not be willing to reveal their face. There is no situation that exists where this is justified, appropriate or acceptable. This is a parachute-sized red-flag. Be extremely suspicious. I'm sorry.

Chances are he might not be who he says he is. It looks like he successfully seduced you by his words (women do fall in love with what they hear) but still if he won’t show you his face there is an obvious reason for it. That reason can’t be good.

Yes maybe he's worried about how you'll change when he reveals his face to you.

I revealed my face to a girl who convinced me saying she's different from most people and would never call me or see me as ugly and the moment she say my face she looked sick and she exited the video call and ghosted me and I knew that was going to happen and I let myself be convinced like a moron, and he's probably worried you'll do the same.

Talking as in speaking or talking as in texting? If in texting and he refuses to show his face he might be 70 or 14. I suppose that could be true over the phone, too, but would likely be noticeable. Either way, you cannot trust it.
