Do you think that having a racial preference when it comes to dating makes someone a racist?

I don't think a PREFERENCE would make someone racist per se. Everyone has their perception of what an ideal partner would look like and because different racial groups have different appearances, one race will have features that more closely align with said ideal.

But I do think saying that I won't date one racial group at all is racist. And before anyone gets pissy, yeah you can date whoever you want just like you can make friends with whoever you want BUT if you say I won't be friends with Black or Hispanic people, then you're a racist (something being wrong doesn't mean it should be illegal).

Although I also think social media sites should take measure to de-platform people who actively discourage inter-racial dating. But then again I might have a bit of a bias because if it wasn't for inter-racial dating, I wouldn't be here.

First, bigotry means holding stereotypes and thinking or acting on those stereotypes of a racial or ethnic group. Racism is bigotry which includes animus toward others of that group.

Generally, no, having a "racial preference" isn't bigoted - especially if it is based solely on instinct - but it can be bigoted.

For instance, some men have "Yellow Fever" - they are into Asian women because they get off on the idea of a woman from an Asian culture where, traditionally, women are subservient to men. So, these men have dominance fantasies. They don't have a connection with a woman being generally submissive if she's white, but he makes that connection with Asian women and so he gets turned on by an Asian women because he subconsciously (or not) invokes the traditional Asian woman stereotype and feels his fantasy will be satisfied if he dates an Asian woman. That bigoted, but not racist, per se, because there is no animus toward Asians, just an attraction to them because of perceived stereotypes.

Me? I have something of a preference for Asian women too. I just think lots of Asian women are hot but I don't want them to be subservient to me. Same with plenty of women from all races and ethnicities. But I never invoke a woman's culture when fantasizing about her. I just think about her as her and not as a member of some culture or ethnicity.

I don't think having a preference of race to date is racist. What I think is racist is not dating someone BECAUSE of their race, for example if you do find someone attractive but won't date them because of their race, then I think that is.

As you say we all have preferences and that doesn't make us racist to have phenotype preferences. It is also quite likely you will have a builtin preference of your particular phenotype - otherwise phenotype would not emerge as they have.

I am not in agreement with your statement 'I won't date group x' is racist. There are ethnic groups that I have never seen a member of that I thought attractive and it seems highly unlikely that I would meet a member of who I would date. I might express that as 'I'd never date XYZ'. I would say I would say 'I'll never date a white girl' because I find them unattractive in character and attitude - even though I am white. Finding XYZ, in general unattractive to me, is not racist.

Discouraging inter-racial dating does have a tone of racial purity to it but I think censoring is a bigger problem so I wouldn't agree to deplatforming. No matter what is said, It is not going to stop guys and gals finding some one being comely.

It makes them honest. There's nothing more insulting to anyone of any race to feel that someone feels they have to date their race to be PC.

People should date the people are most comfortable dating. Some people will date their own racial profile, others will date those of different ethnicity.

Just let people date happily, instead of bringing feminism and racism into it.

No, having a preference is not racist, as people like certain features more.. I agree with your overall assessment.. If somebody will never date somebody because they are of a different group, then yeah I'd say that they are kinda racist..

I do not think that it is rascist.
I have a wide variety of races that i would date and a handfull i would prefer to date. But i think that who you see as a potential partner is not something that one can call rascist.

I think we all have preferences. I think it depends on why you won’t date another race, but honestly we are attracted to you some groups more than we are others for a variety of reasons.

Maybe, or maybe there are certain characteristics that you subconsciously prefer, and those characteristics just tend to belong to people of a certain ethnicity. In any event, you are entitled to your preferences.

There's nothing wrong with a preference, but there IS with someone who is exclusionist or makes race a descriminator.
