Where I live it’s actually legal to reject somebody because of their ancestral background when it comes to dating and relationships.

Where I live it’s illegal to reject somebody in other areas because of their ancestry for example such as for employment, medical services or at a restaurant because of their race.

People have preferences. To put this into perspective, let's say a guy likes brunettes with green eyes. If a blonde woman with blue eyes approached him and asked him out, should it be illegal for him to reject her solely because of her ancestry, or rather, genetics? She can't help being blonde with blue eyes. Should it be illegal? No. So if someone's type is more fair skinned or dark skinned, they should be allowed to pursue whomever they want or reject whomever they want. Although, it is more bordering racist if the reason is already due to racism. Then again, if someone was racist towards Asians, I would not want to be with that person, anyways. But anyways, no matter the reason, the government cannot make someone date/sleep with/marry another person. The government does not get to dictate your love life, with obvious exceptions like the various forms of rape.

However, if we are talking about any kind of public service, that would be a different story. You can't refuse someone service because of their background (i. e. race, gender, religion, beliefs, etc.). Though there is more of a grey area when it comes to private services (i. e. all women's gyms).

That's just preference. There's a difference between someone saying

"I don't date black people because I just don't find them attractive"

And

"I don't date black people because they're disgusting and cause all societies woes"

Racist is discriminating against race but in a relationship you are the one that sets the rules. It's called preferences and so you shouldn't be judged based on what you like or don't like.

Yes. That's literally the definition of racism. It's just an ACCEPTED form of racism because of the personal and individual nature of it.
