I admit I might not have the best confidence. But this guys ex is like a model and super muscular. She’s beyond gorgeous. I kind of feel I’m the complete opposite. I’m like why is he even talking to me if he can get girls like that? How many of you experienced this?

I've never felt intimidated by someone's ex, for the sane reason I don't want anyone to be intimidated by mine: they are an ex.

Obviously, they are not together anymore, so there must have been a reason. If this person is now interested in me, then I obviously have whatever quality their ex didn't have, so I am automatically better than their ex.

I actually had a fairly major problem with this at the beginning of the relationship I have. I'm actually quite a bit older than my boyfriend (14 years older). At the beginning of our relationship I became really self conscious about my body being physically older than him. I'd always kept myself in pretty great physical shape, but I was/am still 14 years older. Slight sags and bags were evident. I'd gotten quite a few more wrinkles than when I was younger. I now had some stretch marks. In short, my body looked older. By contrast, his exes were all these absolutely drop dead gorgeous much younger women. On top of all that, he was/is an incredibly physically attractive man with a body that constantly is turning heads. On top of all this, I'd get a fair number of people tell me that the relationship couldn't last long term and that he'd inevitably leave me for a hot younger woman (and there were many of them who were very attracted to him). I became really self conscious yet kind of embarrassed to admit that. It really affected our relationship at the beginning.

I only started to be able to overcome my insecurity when I finally told him about my insecurities (communication is a big deal). He told me what should have been fairly obvious: that if he wanted to be with some younger woman he'd be with one. However, he'd rather be with me. Moreover, he also assured me he was super attracted to me. Moreover, from then on he became pretty vocal about his attraction towards me (which helped me feel a lot better). Additionally, noticing that he wasn't flirting with younger hot women (even though he could) made me feel more secure. Also, the fact that (when we were naked) he got super hard all the time made me feel more confident in his attraction towards me (as his body isn't going to lie). Furthermore, reminding myself that we had a solid relationship beyond the physical made me feel a lot more secure and confident.

I've never felt that, but I've had women feel that way about my exes. I just try to reassure them that I think they're every bit as beautiful (usually more so) as the exes.
