How do you go on a date with someone you've chatted extensively to online without it being awkward?

Alright, long story short. I've been chatting to a really nice seeming guy from the same city. We are planning to meet in a week. We agree we like talking but we are both relatively shy people. How can I help make things less than awkward? I worry I won't have much to talk about because I worry I will ask something I have asked over chat.

As for how to make things easier? Depends on you two. You can go to the place and VC each other while at the same table if you want. After all that might be enough to make you both default to your "online" self. A failsafe is rarely a bad idea. I could absolutely imagine two awkward shy people talking nervously and messaging meanwhile in real time. Two parallel conversations.

But at some level you just have to bite the apple and find out if you like each other physically too.

Do voice chat and video, reiterating someone else's response, but I agreed with it. Also talking about stuff you already have isn't bad, discuss topics you both are comfortable with.
