What's a good way to break the ice when messaging women you match with using online dating?

So I seem to get a good amount of matches but I could never make it past the first message. I don't know if I come off as boring or what. My first message is usually "Good morning how are you" or something to that effect. They respond, then my follow-up question is "where are you from" and I get no response after that. I'm hoping you guys can give me some tips on breaking the ice I guess.

I don't get past the first message as in the part after they say "I'm good thank you for asking How are you." What's the best response to that?

Okay, so this is a bit tough for me to answer because I have never used online dating. However, I can at least give a suggestion based upon what sort of message I would want to get from a guy if I was on an online dating app. Maybe that will help.

I suppose I would want to get something sort of like the following. "Hi, I'm _______ . I noticed that you like _________ . I also like __________ etc, etc."

Basically, it would show me a couple of things. One, it shows that he took the time to look at my profile and really get to know what I was into. Two, it shows we share a similar interest. That is a good thing and good ice breaker having something in common.

I think what you are sending is a bit generic and needs to be more personal to the user you are contacting. Now, I have zero clue if that is going to work. As mentioned, never did online dating. This is purely me thinking about receiving what you typically send versus what I would want to see. Hope this helps.

I do appreciate the feedback. The thing is it's the next step I need help with. We matched then she replys to my initial message. So it's the second message I get stuck on. I just need a couple witty one-liners to get past the awkward stage I think. The thing about online dating is The success rate especially for men isn't very high so you have to send a lot of likes. Some women have extensive profile bios and some have none at all. If I were to spend time reading everyone's bio and coming up with a witty introduction I wouldn't be able to send as many likes and tbh it wouldn't be as fun. I would also feel like I'm wasting my time giving someone my best who wouldn't give me the time of day. It's after we match, and I get a response to my first message that I read the bio that way I know they are willing to at least give me a chance. If I send a woman a good introductry message But I'm not attractive enough for her too even match with me then why am I sending a good introductory message? I am valuable and I refuse to act as if I'm not. From what I do read in women's bios other men say things like "hi" or "wyd"as they're introduction. But myself I am saying good morning, calling them by their name and making sure it's spelled correctly, and using emojis, most of the time introduce myself. I've always been someone who goes the extra mile and I'm almost positive that my initial message is not where the opportunity is. I know based on what I put it sounds generic but I don't send the same message to everybody and I try to seem unique.. I think my problem is I come off as boring. Like I said I feel like I get a good amount of matches They just rarely result in dates or even conversation. There's also people who just swipe right without sending any message at all.

Yes I understand something funny would be beneficial. The thing is we're not all blessed with this talent. If having a sense of humor was something I can choose to have or not to have I wouldn't need to ask this question. Yep. Single father of three with a full-time job. It's not easy for me to meet people. Plus if you read my question you'd know Im socially awkward. I don't know why you feel like being a bully is ok but whatever. If you have time to go to bars get hit on and have a social life of promiscuity with no shame then good for you.
