Why did my boyfriend randomly bring up that I'm older than him?

He tells me I'm pretty but yesterday he brought up that we are beating that statistics because I'm 30 and he's 28

Seems like a stupid hang up to me, but I've had relationships end because friends or family got to the ladies because they were older than I am. Maybe his friends or family are feeding him negativity.

But I always get told I look younger for my age. I feel a bit hurt becuase I let him stay rent free while he looks for a job becuase he just finished at university
