I would hope you will wait until you are 18 to have sex, so he won't go to prison. But after that, it is not an issue.

Even if 17 is the age of consent in your state, if he uses email or telephone to converse with you and there is any, ANY suggestion of sex, then he is in violation of federal law and can be imprisoned for a minimum of 10 years. All it takes is an overzealous prosecutor and he is toast.

The 21 year old son of a neighbor I used to have had that happen to him. His girlfriend was 17 and he was convicted and went to prison.

Yeah, that's a wide age gap. What i'm asking myself is why would a 25 year old be dating a 17 year old? I'm 17 too and i would not be comfortable with that age difference. My boyfriend is 18.
