Why would a guy take one girl to a bunch of upscale places for dates but for other girls to rather casual places for dates?

He's perceiving differing lifestyles and socioeconomic levels between girls and is meeting those levels for that particular person. I would be an idiot to take a sweet country girl to some snobby city restaurant when she loves a nice charming restaurant. Granted, a once in a while dressed up date to the city for anyone is nice and the opposite can be said for a city girl going to a nice small town patio.

That’s interesting. I make 150k a year as a scientist. I meet a lot of men at or around my income level but I don’t know if that’s why they take me to those nicer places or not. I live in a big city. The other women who I have talked to who have dated the same guy as me said that they’re surprised he took me to such nice places when he’s usually super casual and doesn’t do that.

@honest-matt Well his ex gave him a hard time about how he took me to such expensive places. One dinner was $400. And she thinks he did all of that just to sleep with me. She’s 35 and I’m 26 so I don't know if there’s jealousy

Well the ex is obviously jealous, you're younger AND going to better places than she went to. How old's this guy? If he is older, perhaps that is his intention to impress you and sleep with you which in all honesty, that's not a bad thing at all if both of you are enjoying each others time and both into the idea of sleeping with each other. I'd say ignore the noise and have fun, if he ditches you thinking he got one over on you, you had fun at least.

@honest-matt well she apparently also texted him giving him a hard time for going for someone younger and then for the really nice places he took me to/spent money on me. He’s 39.

Yeah she's just being a miserable person, why would she care at all about him or you? She should be moved on.

I don't know she found out that he cheated on her with me but I had no way of knowing they were together. We met online. She reached out on FB to me. I feel extremely uncomfortable about it.

Yeah generally dudes can tell that sort of thing. Maybe he's being on the safe side though and doing a little bit more than he should for the sake of making you happy. That's how I see it
