Yes, men don't seem to be the same as women that way. When men see women who have eating disorders, or any other type of self-esteem issue, they just take advantage of the fact that you are weak, rather than want to become your therapist like women tend to want to be towards men in the same situation. Not fair.

I save enough people at work, I just don't have the time or energy to deal with it.

It is if you want to be treated as an equal in the relationship. A partner is there to support and assist you, I "take care" of my pets and children. Also remember that a partner is entitled to your support and assistance. There is nothing wrong with having someone take care of you, as long as you are okay with what follows from that.
