It's not a turn off, to me it's more of a incompatibility, I feel like I wouldn't be compatible with an atheist because my believes would most likely not be respected by that person and I think it can kinda mess with balance of things depending on situations, when and if I decide to have a child it can confuse the child when I speak of a God and the mother says something completely different, I'd rather be on the same page with my partner about believes, it's not considered a turn off to me because I'd try it before I bash it but my assumption is that it would bring complications.

Depends if you're open & honest about it.
When I was single, I would make sure to put on my online dating profile that I was an Atheist & an outspoken one at that, and that monotheists need not apply. I respect polytheists & non-religious/Atheist/Agnostics more & had some excellent conversations & flings with several.

Being an Atheist only unattractive to people who are religious, unless they are open-minded & can see that religion isn't fact.

I think that's largely dependent on your beliefs. Most men value agreeableness and having conflicting ideological framework would, in all likelihood, put the couple in a perpetual debate.

I think regardless of your beliefs date someone similar and befriend many people who think differently than yourself.

I have to imagine that it is to the faithful. Even agnosticism is a turn-off to some of them. I’ve read as much in online dating profiles.
Otherwise, as long as they’re not ignorant or bullish about it, it would not be a deal breaker for me personally.

what can throw me off... are those who say they don't believe nor care for god and yet... spend most of their time, energy and effort talking about the god they say they "don't care at all" lol...

I'm not into that kind of bitterness

but, bitterness in general is a turn-off for me

depends what it means to you. it might be. Even Jesus said... not everyone is one of mine. Some Christians will accept, many won't because are taught not to... Bible says so.

My wife and I do ok with this since she respects the teachings and I accept her view since I used to think like her. As anything in life, this can be a source of conflict or something you can work out. Might especially be an issue with children and values and beliefs taught.

Personally yes, because I am Christian, and I would like to be with someone who is Christian, because then we have the same morals, and we are able to understand one another better and understand why we make the decisions we make.

@Havthrills Because if you are with someone who is not Christian, but you are Christian they might not respect, the decisions you make, for example, sex before marriage, nothing intimate before marriage, living together before marriage, going to church, praying, and how that person wants to raise their kids

If love is there, then they will respect each other. I am not Christian. I read the King James Version. Would I have different morals then? I would like to know, not wanting to irritate.

@Havthrills That's true if there's love in this respect, but people who are really deep into their religion, will put whatever they belive in before love, so if their spouse is saying something or doing/ or wants to do, that their religion is against, that will create conflict. And probably annoy the other person so their relationship wouldn't work as well, as a relationship with the same religion.

A serious clash of worldviews can be problematic, so a devoted theist (Christian, Orthodox Jew, Muslim, for example) might be willing to be friends, but would not be likely to marry or even date.

Not nearly as much of a turn off as a religious wacko. For anybody to say they know what happens after death is quite arrogant, or they are talking to dead people. I don't want to hear about either.

Dating a religious person mean can we expect happiness, the person to behave just as what is written in religion. I doubt a religious person have read their own sacred scripture end to end and behave accordingly on day to day.
