Am I destined to be single forever?

Growing up, people have always told me that I need a romantic partner to get through tough times, accomplish things, and celebrate milestones with, but I’ve done everything alone. My dad would always say that I need a girl to bring my hot chicken soup in college when I got sick. A friend in college said I’d need support to get through my degree. But I made it on my own, only going on a few dates here and there.

I’m 27 now and I earned 2 college degrees on my own, bought 2 cars on my own, bought my 1st house alone and I am in the process of buying my 2nd one on my own, went on my 1st international trip alone.

I’ve never had an official girlfriend. The only woman who came close was a woman I talked to 3 years ago before starting my masters. We talked for 2 months, went on 2 dates, but she made it a competition between me and 3 other guys and she said I was “top 2, but not 1”.

I’ve tried speed dating, online dating (but only met up with a Hinge date one time), and going to meet ups. I’ve improved my fashion, been in the gym, and worked on my conversational skills. Even tried therapy. As I’ve made improvements, other men have complimented my physique and say that they want to steal my clothes and shoes. But women rarely compliment me, only my mom when I go visit her. I’m starting to feel like finding love isn’t in the cards for me.

And low-key, I feel like I’m happy being alone. I’ve seen my parents fight and hear about other couples arguing. While I get to come home to peace; just me and my thoughts. Lol I fear that feeling this way might just be an easy excuse to give up.

I feel like if my life was a report card, I’d meet or exceed every category besides relationships, where I’d get an F-. Lol Should I keep trying for love or give it up and embrace my singleness?
