Can my mom make me spend every weekend with her and her boyfriend?

I live with my mother still but am planning on moving out as soon as I am financially stable enough. We obviously see each other during the week all the time, and we argue a lot and have a strained relationship. She has a bad temper and I'm more like my father.

So it's nice during the weekends for me to just get out and see friends instead. After we argue, my mom and I agree that we won't see each other during the weekend to have a healthy break apart. But when the weekend comes, she insists I spend the time with her and her boyfriend instead. Can she make me spend time with them when I have other plans?

I've just left university so am unfortunately living at home until I incur enough money to rent. Yes I'm 25, it isn't an ideal situation.

That part I understood, I know it’s hard to move out on your own and it takes time. But what I’m saying it at your age, why do you feel you have to do what she says? Sure you live under her roof but you aren’t obligated to sacrifice your weekends to her, as if the week isn’t already enough. If not hanging with her will eat you up inside or make you feel guilty then you can always find a workaround. Maybe do something relatively fast like dinner.

I'm working on it, but even with the full-time job I have it'll take a while.
