I don't think it is such a good idea. This condition, known as nocturnal lagophthalmos may bear some dangers for the eyes. They may dry out since there are no tears that are moisturizing them as with the closed eyelids.

There is a good reason why anesthetists tape eyes close during an surgical procedure. Without adequate tears, you may have an increased risk of eye infection and damage to the surface of your eyes. If left untreated, severe dry eyes may lead to eye inflammation, abrasion of the corneal surface, corneal ulcers and vision loss.

Unfortunately, sleeping with open or partially open eyes is a relative common occurrence and it should be addressed by a specialist.
