I am a type one Diabetic and have been since 14 years of age. The outlook was not good. Kidney disease and blindness were the big threats. Not to mention the male problem of neurovasdcular ED. Not something that a maturing adultescent wanted to hear. My father had polio in 1953 and so polio did not scare me. I met a polio survivor in college who contracted the disease the same year my dad did. She became my wife. She has been my wife for 50 years. She has been with me through all the sequelae of the disease. I must have had good genes. No retinal problems or kidney disease. I had a cardiac episode at 62 but so do a significant number of non diabetics. Had a triple bypass with no complications and no myocardial loss. We went through the ED episode with little problems. I have had two penile implants. The first lasted 20 years and the second and current one is 10 years old. She has stood me and I have stood by her with Post Polio. It is not a perfect world my friend. You are now forced to face lupus either with his support or without it. I think he needs to face the fact that the obvious perfection of youth fades. He may find as time goes by that he is inflicted with something far worse. And for you, Ladybug, dont' assume your life will be a tragedy. Every case is different. In my opinion it is still worth the ride.

Dump him and I'll tell you why. I went through this exact same thing back in 2015 when I was sick. I had massive internal bleeding and I had to go through a double procedure to find where the bleeding was coming from and I wasn't sure if I was going to make it out alive. My ex all she could think about was her anxiety and saying to me that me being sick with internal bleeding and having the double procedure was giving her anxiety. I was thinking can't you put your own anxiety aside and be there for me support me. After a heated argument she "tried" to be there for me but that bridge was burned and it was to late by that point and I dumped her.

Another ex of mine back in 2002 was so fucking self centered and self absorbed all she could think about was screwing her mexican boyfriend in texas. I was sick with over a 101 or 102 degree fever in really bad condition and all she could talk about or give a damn about was what shoes she was going to wear to see her mexican boyfriend. I dumped that fat slob a few days later when I recovered.

Point is if a woman can't be there for you when you're sick and at your worst times get rid of her she's not worth it.

I remember my current girlfriend she was going through the worst time in her life back in 2018 and I was there for her every step of the way. I never left her side. I supported her and said prayers and even wanted to fly down there but her mom told me not to and to give the family privacy and space to sort things out. I was worried sick about her that entire time but i didn't drag my anxiety in the middle of it or talk about clothes or stupid shit I focused on her health and her well being

It's reasonable for him to be frustrated that you are ill. He should have told someone else that, not you as there is nothing you can do to change it. Your reaction is quite understandable. He's young, and at that age people aren't as thoughtful as they should be. At this point you both need to decide -- does he want to continue seeing you, knowing that you have lupus? Are you wiling to continue seeing him?

It sounds like him saying he wants someone healthy is part of a bigger issue. If he is belittling you on a regular basis, that's a bad sign. It's probably something that will continue unless you put your foot down and tell him to knock it off - and be serious about it.
