My boyfriend is disappointed because of his referee during a basketball game. How can I make him happy?

This isn’t the type of situation where I should just lash out at him and say things like “just get over it” so I really need some advice on how I can make him happy.

Make him happy? Two things. First, think about some time when you were disappointed about something: that'll call up the emotion of empathy. Then tell him you understand. Nothing more than those two words. Maybe with the physical gesture of your arm around him. Then, the other thing would be little things that you know he likes. A cup of coffee. A new pencil. Putting your hair in a pony tail because you know he likes that. Little things. He'll get through it.

You're a great friend/girlfriend not just to want to help but also because you noticed.

Your intent is admirable and sweet. A blown Ego can not be fixed by a woman. You can give him space and let him process it his way. It's best to stay out the way and be call and text available.

You can’t. He’ll get over it in time. If you’re able to let him vent without taking it personally, offer him that. Depending on what stage he’s in, you might be able to remind him there will be other games and other refs. His best bet is to focus on that. Dwelling on the past won’t improve his performance in the future.

Otherwise: ignore it. He will live.

He better get over it, he may have the same ref for several games, he needs to learn how the ref calls fouls and make adjustments
