No one should ever just settle. Being with someone is about finding someone that pushes you to be your best self, that cares about you and loves you warts and all, someone you can spend hours talking to and never getting bored. Finding love is more than finding someone to sleep with, or spend time with just so you won’t be alone. If your dating “down” then your settling just so you won’t be alone. Being alone is ok. If you can’t be ok by yourself, what makes you think you’ll be ok with someone else.

To be honest, in terms of looks at least, I see more women dating down than men. Personally, I don't think it's always so conscious. I will date someone I'm attracted to. Whether he's down, or I am, has nothing to do with it.

But I think standards change for almost everyone after 30.
