Parents that have teen daughers or teen sons at what age did you allow them to start dating?

I'd say most people want to date as young as possible, like we have crushes almost from day of going to school. And you can have a boyfriend that most parents won't really care and find it cute. The difference is whenever you're talking about actually dating, like spending lots of time outside of school together. Depending on your parents, they should allow it about at the same time that they start to allow you to go out for lunch/dinner with friends, shopping, movies. I'd say most start being able to actually date around 13-15

When they want to. We don't believe in locking our kids in the tower, so to speak, or even necessarily assign specific numbers to dating. If our kids want to date, they can do it. We want to meet them -- not so we can tell them who they can and can't date, but so that we can add perspective in case that person is a jerk or treats them badly. We've worked to create a safe, open space for our kids to date and to talk about dating and sex and be able to safely explore and grow up.

My oldest boy had no interest in dating until he was 18; boy #2 started when he was 14. Boy #3 is 13 and would rather die than look at a girl. My daughter is close to 11 and her attention is on fashion and her hair -- jury is out for that one. Bottom line: they could/can date when they want to but it's been very self-regulating.

So there were no ''rules'' or ''regulations''.

They did not exploit their 'freedoms' or disappoint me :)
