Why he stopped talking with me (Read details before answering)?

He had crush on my during my school days. He waited for me 3 years to propose me. He lost my contact so he married some other girl. Recently I got into touch with him and we started talking casually from a long time. He said that he still remember our school days and asked me my current life updates. I was just talking to him like a friend since I know that he already got married but he never said me that he got married. I got to know the truth when one of his friend actually slipped me the information that he got married. So keeping this is mind I only spoke to him casually and I don't know what his thoughts were whether he's seeing me as a friend or may be expecting something other than that I'm unaware of that. So I was worried if he might express his feelings to me which might ruin my friendship with him or that I didn't want to purposely hurt him after expressing his feelings I kept my distance with him and never allowed him to get too close with me. Before he might express his feelings which will become a cheating on his wife, I told him that I'm interested in someone else and that I'm spending a lot of time with other person so that he can understand that I don't have any feeling to get back with him. From then he stopped talking with me. Why he stopped talking with me if I just expressed him that I'm interested in someone else and talking with him casually as a friend? What did he expect from me actually?

I’m not surprised, and you shouldn’t be either. From the start your connection with each other wasn’t built on a platonic relationship, he liked you enough to want marriage, but had to move on due to losing your number. That means his wife wasn’t his first choice, and if he had his way it would’ve been you. This would make sense why he hasn’t mentioned he’s married, and also why it upset him to know you’re moving on. Simply put, you two didn’t have a regular friendship, no matter how you tried keeping it in that lane, so ultimately this is for the better. It’s clear that eventually his feelings may have gotten in the way and that would’ve been a world of unnecessary drama.
