Is it creepy to send a guy I like a message after finding out his number from a group chat?

There is a man who I like at a dance class I attend. He’s so good looking and friendly and polite. We’ve made small talk between dancing before. There are only 2 more classes left before it finishes for Christmas and it is just a recap of moves and I don’t want to go just to see if he’ll turn up as I noticed sometimes he misses classes. I had a look on WhatsApp and can see a profile with his pic on. Would it be creepy to send him a message? Ask him out? I don’t want him to think I’m a creeper
