Are short guys insecure?

I know a good looking guy but he's quite short like around 5.4 bordering 5.5. Moat of his female friends are taller than him. The girls he has dated are usually shorter than him. However, he keeps calling everyone shorter than him as "short".

He's also exclusively friends with women and does not seem like he has male friends.

Is this OK to say so? Is this a sign of insecurity?

I could understand if being short bothers them, that's not very easy for a guy to deal with and it often does impact their self-esteem.

But the thing I can't tolerate from short guys is when they have Napoleon complex and want to try to control the room. And they often will try to use insults and smart remarks to bring people down so they can feel bigger than the other person, but if you throw it back in their face that they're short, they can't handle it lol. It's their little bulldog attitude that gets them in trouble and warrants them getting hit with small dick jokes and whatnot.

Apart from that, they can't help being short and it's something they have to live with, just like other things we all have that we have to accept. Just don't go around trying to puff out your chest at people because you're insecure about being short, cuz someone out there will embarrass you in a minute.

It could be. I don’t think there’s anything wrong with a short man, and 5’4 guys can be some of the best. First I feel like a trophy wife next to them, so that’s fun. I’m over 6ft in heels! 😂but also short men work harder on themselves, better hygiene, physically fit, nice grooming, commanding and masculine, and while also patient and good listeners. I'm short. I have never been insecure about it. I never had a reason to. I didn't even know there was supposed to be anything wrong with it until I was in my adulthood. By then I knew it wasn't true.

There is nothing you said about him that makes me think he's insecure. Maybe he is, but what you said doesn't give any indication of that.

Online, and especially on this site, there are a LOT of guys who are insecure about it. But they are also the same guys who think you have to be over 6 foot, at least 8/10, be rich, and have a massive dick to get a girl - none of which are true.

The average height for women in the US is around 5'-4". If you guys are running into much taller women, then you are seeing abnormally tall women. The average women in the US is two inches shorter than me.

You guys might be living in areas with a lot of immigrants from northern Europe. Immigration to the US comes in waves, from different countries. They tend to settle in whatever areas are growing at the time.

For example in the mid 1800s there were a large number of German immigrants. The upper Midwest was a growing part of the country at that time. So the north central US ended up with a large number of German ancestry who are tall. It's the same reason why you see a lot of beer breweries and watch companies in that area. The Germans brought their trades and their height with them. You can even hear it in the accent in that part of the country.

If you go places along the southern border it will be the opposite, with a lot of shorter Mexican and Central American people.

But no matter where you are, there should still be a significant number of women shorter than me. The average is 5'-4". This has been measured many times in many studies.

I don't think dating apps are a good measure. I've never spent time at one, but I suspect what I've read is true (about young girls, not older women). They get so much attention from guys it blows up their ego and they think they are hot shit and can make any demands they want.

It's well known that women "prefer" taller men. But in practice preferences don't mean shit. That's true of all preferences, not just height. I think it varies with person. I'm the shortest in my friend circle that too by a good 7 to 10 centimetres. Never felt insecure.

Yes I agree but I don't think that's always insecurity. I genuinely believe guys are more attracted to girls who are shorter kinda like how girls are attracted to guys who are taller. For example, I'm 5'8 and I'd date someone 5'8 if she has an amazing personality but purely physically, I'd find a girl who's 5'3 to be more attractive, but my brother who's 6' is much more okay with someone who's 5'8 but 6' is less attractive. 5' is also more attractive to me than it is to him, and I think this is because of too much height different. Honestly, I don't find them insecure with just that information. Maybe they are but sometimes guys just say you're as tall as a man as a playful tease. It depends how they say it. I'm sure that most guys that are short are fine with it since there's nothing you can do to change your height. Although there are those short guys that lift their trucks to compensate and have a bad Napoleon complex.
