Could you date someone where they and their whole family have "no problems" with each other?

She's beautiful, knows how to cook and seems to really like you. She can stand on her own two feet and seems faithful. So you meet their family and you have a good time... but something is wrong.

They're all nice to each other. Like, strangely nice. You saw her brother looking like he will have a breakdown but he keeps his cool. You don't get why do you feel uncomfortable until you see a couple arguing in a mcdonalds and it hits you: they don't share their problems. They seem to have no problems but the elephant in the room is literally dancing and making the room shake. As one would say "Just because there's no fightin' in da house doesn't mean there's a problem."

Jokes aside, no that's not a problem, assuming of course they weren't just putting a show on for you, or that it's obvious things ARE wrong and they're just ignoring the elephant in the room.

Think about it- that girl has her act together and is standing on her own dealing with her problems. That's pretty much always an indicator of a strong family unit, so why wouldn't her siblings be more or less the same way?

I think its more important if you've ever noticed this with you and your partner, the family being like that doesn't bother me, but if my partner was like that towards me I'd have an issue. Talking about problems and having arguments are healthy and important parts of a relationship.

The best way I can write this is to say her family doesn't matter. You must evaluate your interactions with her only. What's unfortunate is dealing with serious problems typically doesn't happen when living apart / at the beginning of the relationship. It may help to discuss things that are important to you unless you are already aligned. Proceed with caution.

I'm with both @Agape93 and @jennz6 on this one. Not something to end a relationship over particularly if I really like them. And someone in a family always has a problem. I suspect I'm that guy if someone looks in my front door. So, yes, stay/date but really odd.
