Can I date a 40 year old if I’m 26? I like older men but lots of other girls think these guys are predators for going for younger girls. Is this ok?

You to rub your 2 cents together , Friends are good to have but they should never be a deciding factor on who you fall for , every girl I liked and got involved with , my friends would try to rub their 2 cents together like they were jealous of seeing me happy and trying to find flaws in these girls that they were completely wrong about , so I never choose friends over a girl that I like a lot , a true friend will support your relationship and be happy for you a toxic friend will try to sabotage it cuz they are jealous , some of my toxic friends ended up with girls that sadly aren’t my type what so ever but I keep my mouth shut and just laugh that they had to nerve to judge who I liked , Always prioritize your partner over friends bottom line

I'm 37 and recently asked out a 27 year old. Being entirely honest here, I am interested in finding a wife and I want kids. Normally I'm more interested in woman my own age or older, but biologically speaking, after 35 woman have a harder time getting pregnant and if they do get pregnant the odds of it being a healthy pregnancy get smaller with every year. To add to this, in the last 30 or so years they've discovered that even though healthy men can have kids at like 100, after 45 his reproductive cells begin to become less and less stable. This also can decrease the likelihood of conceiving and increase the chances of unhealthy pregnancies. So... there is a 10 year gap between men and women in this regard. I genuinely liked this woman and thought we would make a good couple. The 10 year age gap was honestly a concern I had but I felt that, with the right woman, it could be overcome. It didn't work out but I say all of this to tell you that it really depends on his intentions.

Research has shown that the closer in age a couple are, the higher the odds of them maintaining a long-term relationship, including marriage. A 10 year age gap is considered, by this research at least, to be the maximum age gap that has more likely than not potentiality to be lasting. Anything over that is statistically more likely to fail.

I would recommend you consider this man's intentions and know what sort of relationship you ultimately want before jumping into this. Maybe he just wants to start sleeping with younger women. If he's going through a mid-life crisis that is actually very possible. But maybe he is in a similar situation as I was. It'd be best to find out and take that into account. If you do decide to give it a shot, it's gonna be in both of your best interests to understand that having such a big age gap isn't impossible to overcome but it's gonna take work on both parts to even have a chance at being successful.

(aka money and sex). that's the grey area. i mean, even an 18 year old can date a 40 year old. but that doesn't mean they SHOULD. that's just weird. i get you're 26, but again, why do you want to date him? where do you see this going? because as a warning, relationships like you're mentioning don't last long term. the generations thing is kinda awkward too.

Of course you can date him. You’re adults, and it’s your life, not theirs. That type of thinking is just dumb. What they’re really saying is that they don’t want to date older guys, which is fine but it’s their preference, which they shouldn’t try to force on you.

There's nothing wrong with it per se. But any dating gap larger than 9 years the odds of success fall off tremendously. But it is still possible you beat the odds. Just be careful and know when to end it if the writing is on the wall and you'll be ok.

Yes you can. If both of you are of legal age and consenting and both clear about what the dating and anything else is for, you're good. Just don't expect everyone to be happy about it.
