I actually remained friends with a few of my former girlfriends. I didn't plan to get back together with them and they had moved on, so they were just friends.

Absolutely. You should have a discussion on how your boyfriend feels about having exes as friends beforehand honestly. Then you introduce the idea that you are friends with an ex. Only if you don’t own up to the fact that they are also your EX, hiding the past in that way will always seem shady and put forth a level of distrust especially if the ex themselves ends up being the one to tell your current significant other
