I want to move to another state but he can’t?

I want to move to California even for just a year. I work remote and have the money to support myself and all the expenses to live there. He however does not and would have to find a job there and he would be paying $800 a month for car insurance which made him tell me WE could not move to California because he couldn’t afford it. He’s always had money troubles that haven’t changed in the past 2 years that we’ve been dating. I’m thinking once this lease is up I say I’m not resigning and will move to Cali by myself. I’ve always taken care of all the bills for the apartment so I’m starting to feel resentment.

To be fair, it sounds like you have to make a choice - to either stick by your man and continue living the way you are living now OR bite the bullet, move to California and explore life.

Neither choice is right or wrong. But you should follow what you really feel is true in your heart.

I'll give you an example: a few years ago I was dating someone I was madly in love with and to be with him, I had to move countries and leave my job, family and friends behind. I was more than happy to do it because I felt that my heart was in it at the time. What mattered was living life with him and the rest would come.

Recently, I broke up with a different boyfriend who is still a student (he's studying to become a doctor). I have to do long distance for another two years until he graduates, and then another two years until he specialises. It seemed like the entire relationship was about HIS needs and never mine. I want to spend my 20s and before I have kids travelling and living in different cities and countries (because like you, I work remote too!). I made the choice to end that relationship because my heart was in the adventure that I wanted to pursue.

There's never a right or wrong answer. There's just whatever you feel makes your heart flutter. Follow that.
