It is common practice for the woman to pay her half in living expenses. Sometimes, it is a straight dollar amount half. Sometimes it is you get utilities, food, and car and I will get the rent.

And it is the same when one is married too. Girlfriend or Wife does not mean a woman is not responsible for her financial portion in a shared life.

Depends different relationships have different dynamics. Personally, I don't think anyone should rely totally on another like that. But if it works for them it works for them. Who am I to say that's wrong.

Girl this is like the 2nd time you have asked a similar question. You really need to get it out of your head that the guy you are living with should be paying for you. You are sounding a bit like a gold digger and you are coming across as very high maintenance.

Do you know what is attractive to guys, girls who are independent. If you continue to go around wanting and expecting a guy to pay the rent and pay for a roof over your head just because he is a guy dating you when you aren't married to him. I guarantee you will never have a long lasting relationship because guys won't put up with that and I don't blame them. I'm a woman and I genuinely believe this mindset and expectations from women saying men should pay for everything is selfish and disgusting and it's unattractive. I'm sorry

@TheSpaceGnome I only agree to the 50/50 if they are married to an extent. Like if she is unable to work because of her being pregnant or having young kids and the husband is wanting her to stay home, I say than a bigger responsibility falls on him. Other than that if they are married and have no kids absolutely it should be 50/50

I mostly agree with that, with the exception that kids nowadays almost universally need dual income parents, because most men do not have high enough incomes to support 2, let alone 3 or more people by themselves. less than 16% of men in the united states meet the income requirements to be the sole provider for a family.

@TheSpaceGnome I didn't factor into the fact most people do not make enough to be a sole income household especially with kids involved. My bad. That's a very tough situation.

@TheSpaceGnome I honestly didn't think of that to be honest about working from home. My mind was just think mum would need time to recover especially if she had a c section and than some time for her to get into a routine with taking care of baby as she would be sleep deprived
