My boyfriend and I believe in more traditonal ways of life. We both share similar values and want similar things. There is no shame in wanting to be a housewife or live traditionally with your s/o... but it will only work if you both have a mutual unerstanding and healthy relationship. Do you both want the same thing? You dont seem to be on the same page as him. Maybe communicate to him what your concerns are. If he is asking you to help him out with rent, then you shouldn't complain. Support eachother, and talk things out with him. Be mature about it.

Well if you’re working and he is asking you for rent because you’re living there all the time then I think it’s fair. I mean not everyone can afford to comfortably afford everything as well as feed another leech along with it. He’s not obliged to provide everything for you since he is not your husband so you don’t really have wife rights as a girlfriend. Plus if you want a traditional man then you need to be a traditional woman too.

That’s how it usually works when you’re just dating. If you’re serious and eventually get engaged/marry and you both talked that you will be staying at home taking care of the kids, I’ll gladly cover the mortgage. It’s a trade off. Not just everything given to you for not doing anything.

@Slayerrrrrrr My mother and father split the household chores. Until my brother was living with us, he and I, both helped our parents out at home. My parents were never sexist, and expected BOTH of us to help out at home. They believe that everyone should learn everything and only then would we be able to live independently. My brother knows cooking, and so do I (I know only a little haha, I'm still learning), both of us do our own laundry, and I'd make my bed, my brother would make his, and my parents would make theirs. My brother is in college now, so he has to do everything lol

It doesn't matter if he loves you or not. I believe that when you live with someone, whoever that may be, expenses should be shared in some way.

Trust me, it's better that way. When you pay your own share, you won't be dependent on him (ex. you guys have a fight and break up, he will have the right to kick you out cause he's the one paying the rent) if that makes sense.

If you can't afford it, then that's a different thing and if that's the case, I suggest you talk to him.
