My boyfriend won't help me out with rent? What should I do?

I've been through a really hard period lately. I've been having health issues which made me unable to work and now I'm struggling to get another job. I also spent so much money on doctors. I don't have enough money to pay my rent. I asked my boyfriend to help me out this time but he refused.

When we met I was in a better financial situation than him and I was often paying for our dates but now I can't afford almost anything.

He recently bought a car and started building his own house... even last night he told me I know you really love me because when we started dating I didn't have anything. But now when I'm struggling he won't help me out.

He also wants to spend all his free time with me, he does take me out, he buys me food but I really need to pay my rent it seems like he doesn't understand this. He said I can stay with him and his mom but I don't want to live with his mom. Besides he spends more time at my place than his.

I'm thinking to ask someone else to help me out but it's embarassing because he should be the first person to help me out. And I also know he would be pissed if another guy helped me out. But at this point I am thinking to break up with him.

Honestly, you two don't sound right for each other. He offered to let you move in with his family, and you refused. You didn't offer to let him move in with you. This whole situation is very casual dating style, so it's very odd to suddenly ask him to pay your bills. It would be different if you two were talking marriage. You already stated that he is doing the same for you that you did for him in the past, but you're angry that he's not doing more for you than you did for him... You chose to stay in your place and try to make him help carry the burden then held it against him when he rightfully said no. You don't have that kind of relationship! You can't just hit the gas out of nowhere and be angry that he didn't agree to the sudden changes you're expecting and demanding. Your problems are YOUR problems. Not to mention, you've had 7 years longer to get your finances right, and you should have already been moving to a cheaper place before things got this bad if you're having issues. Staying with his family would let you save up until his place is built, but you don't have that sort of long term planning or ability to sacrifice to get ahead going on like he clearly does.

I apologize to men like your ex on behalf of all women for the way you've been talking about him here. My men pay my bills, but I have never and would never treat them like this. It's just mean and awful. He clearly cares more than you do.
