Do you have a bias against against some people you wouldn’t date?

I’m Latino, and my mom really wants me to date a Latina, but I honestly can’t stand most of them. So I date non Latinas my whole life because I grew up around them. I believe mostly all of them have personalities I don’t want in a girlfriend. I met Latinas who have anger issues (about a third of them do), cheat, think they’re all that if they look remotely good, full of themselves, and don’t care about other people’s feelings. My white friends like Latinas, and in my head I feel like telling them why they like drama and headaches? I’m 26 now, and I still don’t think I’ll ever get my mind to change about them.

Nope, I do not have any preconceived notions about any racial groups, and I do not lump everyone into a single category. I judge individuals based on THEIR personality and values, not stereotypes or my experience with others from their ethnicity.

I would prefer dating someone from my own ethnicity, someone who shares similar views because the cultural difference would not be too much, and my family could get along with my partner better. I should also mention that I have LARGELY different views on almost everything as compared to a lot of people in my country, but I am aware that people who think like me exist. I, however, would never reject someone because they were not my race. Everyone is complex after all.

Do you not find even a single Latina attractive? It sounds a lot like you are heavily biased against women of your ethnicity, and you really need to change that. Not dating them is fine, but being biased is not.

Yeah, I find Latinas attractive, but I think a lot of women are attractive. Therefore I care more about personality because no matter how good looking a girl is, if she’s ugly on the inside, it reflects on the outside too (to me at least). I dated pretty much every race and ethnicity you can think of, and I had a great time with all of those women because they’re all so sweet in their own ways. But I just have my doubts about Latinas.

@Keishio You simply cannot compare both. Just because I had a bad experience with someone from a particular race does not make everyone from that race bad. Not everyone is the same. Even dogs. I have had dogs bark at me on the roadside when I was minding my own business. Dogs can sense fear and they will try to establish dominance if your fear is obvious. Besides, most dogs do not attack unless you bother them. Your analogy is clearly fallacious.

My biases are completely justified, yours: however, are not. There are millions of Latinas (in the US) and you haven’t met all of them so discriminating and stereotyping them isn’t healthy.


Overall though, you can have your preferences, this isn’t about that. Just stop bashing people and or making up things about them because again, you don’t know all of them to make such bold falsely opinions.

Bias is not racism. So yes I have biases against those I date and do not date. I am not racists towards them and I try not to act upon my biases whether they are perceived good or bad as there are always other party involved.

Yes sort of. I kinda have bad experience with the men of my race too (I am Indian), but I don’t think I am totally biased against them considering I have a close guy friend who is also Indian. Maybe you just don’t click well with them which is not uncommon to me.

I think it's the people you surround yourself with. You're a Latino. Anyone could easily say all Latino men a machistas, hate women, and are lazy, and steal benefits from the US. Your comment did offend I’m not gonna lie. But I never said anything bad about them, except they don’t fit my idea of a good girlfriend because I haven’t met one that I like to date. And my mom and two older sisters are Latina. I love them with all my heart. And I hug my mom every single time I see her. So I’m not saying anything bad, just not my type. If I meet one with good qualities, then yeah, I’ll go out of my way to date her. But I haven’t.

I dated a good number of Latinas, though. In most cases I had only minor issues with them. Only in one case the girl was a headache.
