17 and 21 are both within the realm of children. Neither is a full fledged adult abusing an ignorant child. I think it's all good as long as boundaries are respected and of course no law is being broken

Legally, it depends upon where you live and possibly if the 21 year old has any authority over her, like being a school teacher or the such. If it is "okay" is far more complex, as your parents might be utterly opposed.

17 is the legal age to have sex in my state.

Where do people get that idea? 13 U. S. states have an age of consent of 18. Six have an age of consent of 17. Thirty-one states and the District of Columbia have an age of consent of 16. So 38 or 51 U. S. jurisdictions, or 74.5%, have an age of consent under 18.

But I bet there are certain limits there, ie the partner has to be within a few years of that age?

No, Romeo and Juliet laws deal with age and they only apply if a partner is under the age of consent. If you are at or above the age of consent then age of your partner is inconsequential.

What about the social stigma though? It seems Americans have a real issue with older men sleeping with 16 year old women. Which is understandable. We have somewhat of a similar stigma here. And of course, one can argue that is fair and right, too.

There are states that have Romeo and Juliet provisions which actually allow close in age exceptions, so for example a 17 year old might be able to legally have consensual relations with a 15 year old even though the age of consent is 16. But if the age is 16, that 16 year old can have sex with a 50 year old. The only real restrictions are for those in authority. For example a teacher in a state where the age of consent is 16 or 17 still cannot mess around with a student. Sometimes this law even makes it illegals if the high school students are 18 or 19.

Even if they are it can be okay. The ages of consent I've seen range from 16-18. The 18 rule only applies across the US for nudity. If he has nudes of her when she's under 18, that's a crime. If the age of consent is 17 or lower, then they can have sex legally.

She was the friend of the host's younger sister. When I started dating her I knew that I was not going to have sex with her snd that was okay.
