Please help is my boyfriend calling me nick name after his ex am I just paranoid help?

I have a boyfriend currently me and him have been with each other for 3 months. The first 3 initials of my middle name is ale ( don’t wanna give out the full sorry) he then told me he wants to give me a nick name that matches with that which will be ally he told me he wanted it to me unique I didn’t think much of it so I went through out my day. Anyways to make the long story short I found out his exs name was “Alyssa” and she called herself ally? I was shocked at this and I don’t know what to do I don’t know if it would be a coincidence because he told me he loves me and that I should trust him I haven’t told him about this yet. I even told him one time if he could change his initial in his bio which is the name name he gave me to my real name which is Cora. He then said no and said he prefers the nick name he gave me? Am i just paranoid I don’t know what to do.

Sounds like he’s trying to trigger his ex which is absolutely ridiculous, immature and inconsiderate of you. I wonder if he’s really over her.

I should also note that this is me trying to give him benefit of the doubt because otherwise I’d think he’s cheating. For him to use your middle name and turn Ale into Ally makes me feel like he’s doing that for her in a romantic way.

Yes for sure, ale to ally don’t even match up that much. I think he’s just trying to cope with the fact he isn’t over her and is just imagining I’m her or something

Unfortunately I have to agree, that’s just way too suspicious and then for him to refuse to take it down? No no no. Like what’s wrong with using your first name and making a nickname from it? If that’s him not being over her or still trying to show he has her on his mind, I would leave him.

if you don't like that nickname, tell him. Reason: it reminds YOU of his ex. But I don't think he would assume that your nickname has something to do with his ex's name. He may not have 'thinked ahead' or 'outside the box' enough to understand your intuition. Men think differently than women.

Just tell him, that you don't like and want another.
