Why do some men treat their girlfriend so badly?

my best friend has a boyfriend. she‘s really pretty, gets good grades and she‘s really nice. Quite a lot of guys have a crush on her. Her boyfriend seems really sweet and kind but she cries about him so much because he doesn‘t treat her well. He often ignores her, tells her he‘s busy and won‘t talk to her for days. He‘s not as attractive as her, doesn‘t get good grades and I think he should treat her better. why does he behave like this?

I don‘t know how to help her because she cries about him so much and tells me about it and I don‘t know what to say anymore.

It’s a manipulative tactic that insecure, low self esteem people use to keep someone by their side , it’s a narcissistic trait , if she ever has the courage to leave him , he will try to play a victim that she was the one that was in the wrong without pointing fingers at himself blaming her for betraying him and telling everyone else that she is a whore while playing this nice innocent guy so people Feel sorry for him , Say people like him will cheat on their partners cuz they feel their partner is going to cheat on them first pointing fingers at her like she deserved it from the way she treats him , Which is good but in his mind she is playing him , it’s a sad thing to experience and watch , But it happens all the time , Relationships are supposed to bring you peace , not misery , She is in misery if she stays with this kind of guy

Because girls have expectations that guys don't even know exist.

To a girl he's being horrible. But to him he's just having a tiny bit of space.

If he was really bad he would say bad things and treat her like shit.

But based on your description thats nothing. That's just a guy that doesn't know that women are wacky and need all these special care tips like a puppy with an instruction manual.

It's all about boundaries anyways. The guy needs to put up boundaries but he didn't. The girl has no boundaries so she has no way to know what is going on or what to do.

I don't know what it takes to learn boundaries. Some girls are insane and you have to make up new rules for a new crazy gal. I feel like you never know what a woman is going to do or act like.

Sometimes they're one way when you meet them but behind closed doors they're completely different. You just never know.

I guess the most important thing is just having the ability to set boundaries at all.
