Are some guys more comfortable single than dating?

Seems counterproductive given that many guys lament not finding a date, but I also have some friends - both women and men - that have been single for so long that they find the idea of dating to be uncomfortable.

I can understand it because after a long time of habits, having to make a committment to another person and have to try and impress them can flip a person's world and not necessarily in a good way. Heck, one of the reasons I got married is so I have the dating and awkward parts done already and I can wife and children make an excellent reason - and excuse - to avoid outings and committments I don't want to do.

When you think about how many requirements most women have for men, verses how many requirements men on average have for women, it makes sense that a lot of men would choose to remain single and simple enjoy casual dating. Its easier, and women are notorious for going into dating with laundry lists of requirements for men, meanwhile men are still expected to do even more in a relationship such as provide, protect, and lead. Meanwhile especially today and here in the west, most women view things like cooking for their bfs or husbands as slavery, but still desire tradition from a man like an expensive wedding ring and/or wedding. So its a dynamic that doesn't favor most men, that I think they are simply adjusting to. Not to mention how most men tend to come out worst off financially after divorce, which women happen to initiate almost 80% of the time here in the U. S.. Next, i think most women tend to put their best foot forward prior to a relationship, so I think most men here in the west simply take advantage of that prime time when women actually treat men with love and compassion, and are willing to do nice things for them. After marriage, most western women still believe in the happy wife happy life mantra, which is usually behind why so many women unconsciously neglect the needs of their SOs, which is in part to blame for men that cheat. I think as society levels out the unrealistic expectations that social media is certainly in part to blame for, more people will eventually consider relationships again, but I dont think that will be for a while. Marriage right is just not going to be a good deal for most men today.

Some people are born as introverts and sometimes, that is coupled with being asexual. Such people have no reason to get into a romantic relationship. If people are not just a lttle bit shy, but really don't want to date, it is a mistake to try to pressure them into dating.

One can not like sex and still have a relationship or marriage. I don't like it that much, but it's not a problem.

I don’t like flirting or physical intimacy and I don’t like being around someone either. It’s uncomfortable to all extent. I’ve tried to but it simply doesn’t work for my comfort levels and I need alone time all the time and it’s quite preferred to go on adventures and travels on my own.

It seems to me that a lot of people these days were not taught how to socialize properly. I think parents thought that their kids would learn well enough just from being around the other kids at school. But awkward kids teaching other awkward kids how to socialize is not a good learning tool for obvious reasons, and it has affected a lot of the kids into adulthood.

I prefer meeting people as friends, lime when we were kids and gender didn't play much relevance and if love happens great... however its impossible as people put some much preassure on any men woman interaction n men r too deaperate for sex

Absolutely and I am one of them. I venture back into dating every so often only to realize what a pain in the ass it is.

I make good money working in the oil industry and I get to spend it on things I like. When you have a woman (even if she is "string and independent"), money flows like water from a hose. No matter what a man will always end up paying for a lot of things, and that gets old.

It's certainly easier. I just don't think most women today know how to have a "partnership". Most are just trying to live some kind of fantasy. I'm not saying none of them want to put in ANY effort (those there's a fair share of those women as well). But most don't want to put in the level of effort required to have a HEALTHY relationship. I think most women choose bad from they get go, never allow themselves, or maybe even try to heal from it, and then apply the pain to every man they meet afterwards. And worst of all many of the women never learn from thier initial mistakes. So they repeat the same toxic behaviour.

So in the end. It's just easier to be alone then spend all my time apologizing for mistakes SHE'S made in the past with other men.

If you know a woman who are single for long, you also know she isn't someone you want as a partner. She might be good enough for a friend but she doesn't qualify for partnerships. Besides that ship has sailed. You either go for a women in the first few months or not at all.

I have this huge problem of not being able hurt women.
Even if I just want sex with them, I'll let the relationship go as far as she wants it to go and end up with a girlfriend I didn't want lol.

It's really fucked up I know, so I've found it better to save everyone the trouble and stay away from women unless it's obvious they just want hookup a couple times
