If you and your Dad always got along it's not about his expectations or that he is disappointed in you, it's about him wanting the best for his daughter bc he loves you so much.
That being said, he should never talk down to you or disrespect you based on one of your decisions.
Some parents will always be like this. Mine included. They always have a critical mindset and are so biased. Still living with the mindset of old times.
What matters is whether we are satisfied with what we have now. Nothing else has to matter.

I think it's cultural expecting. My old man was happy when I told him about my job and lady. But that's incomparable to the happiness he exuded when my sister said to him that she was pregnant.
It might also be him having higher standards for you and wanting you to make more out of yourself.
I don't know. I don't think my father was really proud of me either. I graduated from college although it took me 10 years but I never gave up. I would be proud just for that. It is weird what some parents consider a success.
