A good portion of people have a mask on for a while. In the early stages, she could be a like fairytale princess. Over time, she slowly becomes mean and rude to everyone, but she is still nice to him.

Some men don't even need to like their personalities, in order to fall in love with them. It's also common that men may go for a woman like their mother, who in that case could very well be a cold hearted shrew.

Just like women who wear jewelry to enhance themselves, guys choose arm candy to enhance themselves. Sometimes the jewelry turns the women's skin green, and sometimes the arm candy is just as disappointing.

Our society promotes self-centered entitlement. Big business convinces people life can only be enjoyed by drowning ourselves in extravagance. The best partners are those who are considerate of others. Though opposites attract, it's similarities that hold things together the longest. The more we give, the more we receive, the more we take, the quicker the well runs dry. The ideal relationship is between two givers, though, in time, they realize neither is giving or receiving, as they are sharing.

Guys are more likely to avoid bad personalities than you seem to think; however, it's not always obvious early on how bad her personality is (assuming it is). People fake it sometimes, after all.

It depends on whom you're looking at.

For some, it's a normalcy or safety bias. They don't want to take the risk of trying to find someone else because they worry that they won't.

And then there are those who, for some sick reason, love being treated like dirt.

Basically there's messed up people of both genders who go for bad people and try to blame the good ones that are seen as weak by society. Don't let them change you. They are the ones being used and abused. Pumped and dumped. Good people who aren't damaged will gravitate towards other good people.
