Alright, I'm going to break it down for you as honestly as I can:

MOST men only care about looks. Some men care about both looks and personality. Very few men ONLY care about personality and don't care at all about looks, but there definitely are some.

Also, men are much more individualistic in their tastes than women are. Women tend to all agree on the same beauty standard, they feel like anyone they see as ugly should be regarded as ugly by everyone. But men do not all agree on the same standard. Far from it, if you ask five different men to choose the most beautiful woman from a line-up, you could easily get five different opinions, and it would have to be a heavily stacked deck for all five men to agree on the same woman.

No matter how ugly you may think you are, even if you ARE objectively ugly, you're still extremely lucky as a woman, more so than an equally ugly man, because men have such differing tastes, you must surely be right up SOME guy's alley. No matter what you may think is your worst, most unattractive feature, there's some guy out there who has a fetish for it. Flat chest? No ass? Giant nose? Buck teeth? Freckles? All of the above plus ten more things? Well guess what? Somewhere out there, even if he's one in a billion, SOME fucking guy thinks you're the perfect woman, or at least he thinks you're much prettier than you and everybody else may think you are.

For instance, I happen to think Kristen Schall is drop dead gorgeous. I can see all the reasons why different people might think she's very plain, or even ugly, but I have a huge crush on her for reasons I myself don't understand, it's just a fact that I do.

Even in unflattering photos of her, something about her look really just does it for me.

Similarly, I'm not at all impressed by Scarlet Johanson, even though most guys worship and drool over her. I wouldn't kick her out of bed, but she's nothing to write home about, certainly not the beautiful goddess everyone always makes her out to be. If I was in a bar with both of them, I'd approach Kristen first and if she shot me down, I might not even bother going up to Scarlet afterwards.

I'm very unusual, of course, but I'm certainly not the only man with unusual tastes. They do exist, and there's certainly far, far more men with unconventional tastes than women. So-called "ugly" women are lucky to be women and not men. Ugly men almost always get universally rejected by women. Ugly women can always find some man who thinks she's pretty. Especially if her own standards aren't too high.

In my experience very attractive women have typically better personalities, of course there are very narcissist exceptions. ( a girl I who is my """friend""'" behaves sometimes like all ugly people should be killed, but she is harmless)
Most dangerous cheaters and relationship saboteurs are girls with typical attractiveness. Cheating and deceiving is an ego thing and I think most really pretty girls don't need this specific self-affirmation.

Let's not pretend like we're not a shallow culture. And women do the same thing to even if the won't admit to it ( their version of beauty is confidence. Well where do you think that confidence comes from.
I'll tell you what i'll feel bad about being attracted to a beautiful women when women feel bad about being attracted to a confident guy. In other words never! :)
