I Asked Out My Gym Crush Months Ago, But I Still Can’t Move On, Any Advice?

Last year around November or so I asked out this girl at my college gym who I had a crush on for a few months prior. I had only talked to her once before I asked her out and it was only to ask how many more sets she had on a machine, when I went up to her I did the same thing, this is how it went:

Me: “Excuse me how many more sets do you have left?”

She: “One”

Me: “Actually that was just an excuse to come talk to you, I think you are really cute and would love it if you would go on a date with me”

She: “Thank you, but I’m already talking to someone, you’re really attractive tho”

Me: “Thank you, what’s your name by the way?” She then told me her name and I told her mine and we shook hands, there was more to the interaction but my mind goes cloudy and I can’t quite remember the order of things or the full conversation, but here’s what I do remember

At some point I said “I’ve seen you at the gym”

She: “Yeah I’ve seen you too”

At some point I said “Well we can still be friends”

At some point she said “Thanks for shooting your shot tho”

To end the interaction I said “Well I still wanna use the machine tho, so let me just stand here awkwardly”

She then finished quickly and I said “Thank you, see ya” she said see ya back

After that I saw a video that said if a girl rejects you ignore her and if she comes to you then she wants you, so I ignore her even tho I suggested we be friends. Ever since everytime I see her I ignore her and recently I tried making eye contact but she also avoids me. On one occasion she was re-racking a bar but the stand is by the entrance to the locker room, so when I got out I saw her in front of me and we were face to face, she panicked and moved away quickly. On another instance I was walking out of class and she was walking to class and there was only one side walk so as soon as she saw me she step out of the side walk, avoided eye contact, and continued, I can’t get her out of my mind and I actually want to talk to her again any advice?

Looks like she is not really interested in getting more than a friendly relationship with her.

I mean, your conversations are pretty dull if I may say so. What speaks for you is that you are not pushy and that you respect her boundaries.

Now, I would not insist because you risk to achieve just the opposite of what you are hoping to achieve. She clearly told you that she is seeing someone else and that should be sufficient for you to keep your distance from her, at least on a temporary basis.

That does not mean that you can't say "hi" next time you cross her path at the gym but don't try to push your luck. She may start to dislike you if you do and that would mean that you ruin all your (future) chances. Good luck.

Do you know anything about this woman? Did she talk to you about anything personal, do you remember any of it?

She's a hot gym girl there's millions of them and your game needs too much work for you to be getting hung up on a girl who you creeped out so bad that she doesn't even want to make eye contact with you.

Until she sees another girl touching you and laughing with you, there is probably just about zero chance she's going to want to talk to you again.

Join a club. Believe me, you will not get a chance to fix your social awkwardness better than what you get in college. And you should be working on yourself arguably harder than on good grades.
