Daily gym goer with gym crush... Am I over thinking things?

So I'm in the military, and the base isn't that big so you run into people often. I always go to the gym on base and this same guy who I'm attracted to goes as well. I was with someone for a while but he and I didn't work out for many reasons and this "gym crush" would always see me working out with this guy but it's been over for while now. Every time I wanna smile I end up looking just straight ahead with a "I'm on a mission for gains" face or I look down because I chicken out thinking that he will either think I just want the d or that im a gym slut who hops from one lifter to another. We took a physical fitness test together with a group and he sat right next to me out of all places, but of course I was to chicken to spark a convo, and he glances at me when I get food from the dining facility but I don't know if he just glances cuz he sees me all over base or because he might fight me a little attractivr. I do check him out a lot though. Do you think he notices? Should I just stop over thinking and just smile? Or should I just do squats and be like "hey this is kinda awkward but can you spot me? I mean I see you around a lot and I really wanna max today sooo yes?"

Strike up a convo with him.. sure ask him to spot you. All you have to say is "Hey i see you a lot here, sorry i have never introduced myself to you. I'm X. Would you mind spotting me on my squats?"

I mean that is pretty easy... if you can have a DI screaming at you for this, that or the other I suspect you can spark a convo with a dude. :-)

I am thinking a little more direct? You don't wanna be one of the boys. Show your confident but still feminine. Show him you are interested off the bat. That's what I would do. :D

Honestly i'm a frequent gym goer myself and I was wondering the same thing I have seen a few hotties and been wanting to get to know them. Like I don't know if its just me but working out gets me horny so if I had someone to blow some extra steam off with it would be nice. I would suggest smiling or asking them something about working out or fitness. I wouldn't ask them to spot while you do squats, because if you have a nice bum it may distract them and you could get hurt and cause a scene lol

I outrank him. He's an e2, I'm about to be an e4 but rank isn't an issue. I'm scared I'll be a bro if I do become friends with him. I'm girly and all on the outside but I do have my tomboy moments
