Do you think I will scare him away if I say I love you first?

He says and does things to show that he cares about me. He tells his friends and family that I am his girlfriend or his best friend. We pretty much do everything together that couples do. I’m ready to tell him that I love him but I’m not sure how he’s going to receive it. I also feel like he mirrors me and I don’t always express my feelings. Would saying I love you scare a person off.
