Is it a TURN OFF for a female to be CONSUMED AND OBSESSED with SPACE/PHYSICS?

My best friend (27 f) who is in her final stages of getting her phd in Astronomy/physics is obsessed and consumed with all things space related, Albert Einstein, physicists and so on. M

She’s very very attractive when she dresses up, she’s tall has straight dark black hair, fair skin and hazel eyes and is like 5’11 so when she dresses up she looks like a model. But my problem is she wants a boyfriend but doesn’t realise that her obsession with space can turn men off.

Its the constant talking about how much she admires Einstein and space and so on that is a turn off but she won’t listen to me?

What should I tell her

The topic is not an issue, it is only the degree to which this consumes her ability to talk about anything else. If she can't communicate what she wants in life (kids or not, rich or just well off, etc.) Then it's going to be very hard for her to find someone who is going to work. She has to be interested in vetting the guys she comes into contact with. If she goes on a date with and approves of a guy who either likes space or "likes space" but is really faking, she could be cruising for a bruising especially with how attractive she is. She needs to be able to talk about life on Earth as much as she talks about life on Mars. "Like all good fruit, the balance of life is in the ripe and ruin."

I'm not obsessed with such things, music is my forte but, I AM interested in some of that. However, as much as I love music and records, I hardly talk about either at all! So, if she constantly goes on about that stuff, it WOULD be kind of a drag!
My ex-fiance was studying all day, every day for her dissertation on Indian philosophy but she hardly ever talked about it with me and I fully supported her getting her work done. There were a couple times I practically forced her to work on it because I knew how important it was for her.
She was only 5' 3 (they don't grow `em tall in India) and I'm 6' 9"!

I don't think it's about the topic of physics/space that would turn people off. It's the fact that she constantly talk about school/work, which is just boring to people outside her field. Now, she could meet somebody in her field and hit it off very well. A lot of more intelligent men don't mind a girlfriend that can challenge them intellectually.

But I agree, it would be a turn-off for people on the street. You can tell her that she doesn't necessarily need to hide her study, she just need to enjoy life outside school more, talk about tv shows, food, current events, fashion etc, things other people could relate to.

She should not hide what she has a passion for. She just needs to find a guy who can respect that and who is capable of understanding some of it.

By contrast I would not advise her to get a guy with the same passion, otherwise it could be a bit single-sided.

A brainy girl coukd be a turn-off only for insecure men.

Well, it should be within reason. If all she talks about is physics then we are not going to connect. However, if a woman likes to talk about her job or studies I let her talk and ask short questions. It can make her feel good, and that's part of what I want, of course.

She's sounds adorable only giving a shit about space tho, I'm sure many people wouldn't just want to hear about space but she shouldn't stop talking about it just for that, if anything tell her to change things up a bit and not just talk about space, to speak of other topics as well, I'm sure many people would prefer she has an obsession with space than sex tbh

So she idolizes Albert Einstein over a Kardashian or whatever, it's the same thing, people idolize other humans and that's not necessarily a bad thing, she's just more brainy I guess and there's guys that like brainy women, if she's attractive that's just better in for her tbh

I have had my academic obsessions too and can understand her enthusiasm.

Let her do her own thing, and pursue her own goals. Sure it might be a turn off for some guys. But maybe she isn't interested in those guys with no substance and one trick wonders.
