My girlfriend and I have been dating a little more than a year rn. She had her birthday recently and is also when i noticed that her ex has followed her and liked every picture of her and my girlfriend has followed back him as well

She didn't like her pics tho

I spoke to my girlfriend about this and she told me not to worry about it and said that "he just wished me for my birthday"

My girlfriend and her ex broke up about 4 years ago for additional context

I wasn't fully convinced

I wholeheartedly trust my girlfriend but i don't trust her ex and his intentions to reconnect with my girl after years!

"I wholeheartedly trust my girlfriend". No you don't. If you did, you would not be asking this question. If you trusted her completely, there would be no need to and nothing to worry about. Yet, since you did ask this question and point out how you are confused leads me to believe you are only fooling yourself by saying you trust her.

You have to have what I consider top three important things in a relationship, which are trust, respect and communication. Those things encapsulate a lot of other things that are important.

You don't seem to have trust or you would not be asking us what to do. You simply do nothing because she told you it isn't a problem and to not worry. If you trusted her, what are you confused about then? You just ignore the fact they follow each other. It is meaningless anyhow. Do you ask this same question for every guy she follows on social media?

I get you don't trust the ex, but why not your girlfriend? She clearly said not to worry and it was just to wish a happy birthday.
