I'm seeking advice on whether people would use a dating app which would function similarly to meetup. com, but with a focus on singles events. The idea is an app where singles can easily connect with others and attend free 'singles' events tailored to their interests.

The app would allow users to create their own events or browse through a variety of options, from casual coffee dates to more adventurous activities. Users can also connect with each other and communicate within the app, making it easier to build meaningful connections.

Okay, so I have never personally used any dating app or online dating service. Some friends have, and I have heard no good stories from their experiences. That said, this does sound like a good idea and value added service.

By curating unique 'dates', you are basically ensuring that the two people that go on the date share at least one interest or passion. That can never hurt. Will it guarantee a love connection? No. Will it increase the odds? I would think so.

The problem is that even if I like rock climbing and so does the guy that I am matched with to go on a rock climbing course, that doesn't mean he isn't a complete jerk. Just means we share one interest.

I get that I would have chatted with this person and built up a little knowledge of them, but the same problems with online dating are still going to be there, which are not limited to: he is still a stranger, he could be a criminal, he could be faking his personality, etc, etc.

There is no way to overcome those things, which is why I think online dating is risky and have not seen it work very well. At least your way is innovative and probably would increase the odds of a successful connection.

No. But I have social anxiety so that’s a big reason why. In general, I don’t know I’m an ambivert, but it sounds like a nightmare for introverted people. The majority of people joining such a thing would likely be very specific types of people - very outgoing people, awkward geeky guys as a last resort and friend groups doing at as a joke.

I don't think this would be any better or worse than any other app that already exists
