1st you are thinking about this all wrong.
You go on a date to vet someone. If you don't know what to ask then you have no vetting system. If you have no vetting system you have no clearly, defined purpose for being on the date.

Cancel the date; it's a waste of your time.

you don't have to put it in those exact words but yeah I'm not exactly joking either... you should be setting up dates to find the guy you're going to marry and he should have a realistic time frame in mind so he doesn't string you along wasting everyone's time. If he walks on the first date b/c you said something like that he probably was never entertaining a serious relationship in the first place. But if you are just playing around with men and aren't seriously dating I'd say it doesn't really matter just ask whatever comes to mind.
