Why did my boyfriend say goodnight to me and then was still online for 40 minutes more?

You are overthinking this one. Him saying goodnight does not actually mean he is going to sleep, it means he just wishing you a good night. Even then, he can change his mind.

But what likely happened is he has other interests that he'd like to spend some time on once in a while and that's okay. If he devoted all 24 hrs of the day, each and every day to you, trust me, you'd lose respect for him and tell him he's smothering you.

I've done that myself. The way it usually happens is, I'll say good night, but then I have to look for something that I can masturbate to, before I go to sleep. Sometimes I find it right away and other times it takes longer.

What's so strange about it is that you can probably consider it a compliment, because after we've been chatting with you for a long time, when we say good night, now we have to try and find something else that's at least somewhat close to being as sexy as you are.
