They are probably trying to tell you that they are broken, in an indirect way, it's like hinting it to you and that they aren't perfect basically, I would assume it's maybe a defensive feature in case somehow they act out and you don't hold it against them, for example, he can later on blame you for something and he basically already told you he is broken and he can use it to back him up, I'm not saying he's a douche by the way, I'm just saying he isn't trying to get your hopes up basically and trying to give you this prince charming perfect guy idea, it's like him saying I'm broken don't think I'm perfect type of thing but maybe I'm thinking too hard on this shit

Nothing. That's a straight forward sentence. I don't spend time overanalyzing every statement of fact I hear. "What goes through your head when someone says they had a flat tire?" You mean, other than they had a flat tire? Words have value. Words have meaning. Assuming fluency in language, we use them for a reason. Don't make that more than it is.

I would feel a bit sad for her but I definitely would appreciate her honesty and opening up to me like that.
Although I will be a little hesitant to get in a relationship with her if that incident was not that long ago, as she might not be over him.
