Why are fat men so critical of fat women?

Question

I'm obese and it seems like big men are so judgmental or reluctant to date big women. Athletic men and thin men have been way more appreciative of my body than big men.

DISCMAIMER: I’m not judging men who don’t want to date big girls. That’s their lives and they can do what they want. This response is only regarding my opinion of fat men who know they’re fat, won’t change that about themselves but refuse to date a fat woman.

I’m 5’6”, 216 lbs so while there are definitely women out there bigger than me, I still fall into the obese category. I don’t really get backlash from men about my weight but on the rare occasion that I do, it’s usually from men bigger than me. The ones that do simply won’t take a good look in the mirror, possibly because on some deeper level they hate being that weight and they won’t date a woman who possesses a trait that they have that makes them hate themselves. And guys please spare me. I get you don’t find fat women or women like me attractive. That’s your prerogative however, don’t think you don’t look like idiots commenting on women being fat or rejecting them for it when you weigh about 300+ pounds yourself.

I would date a fat man HOWEVER, he would have to be at least trying to lose weight. I was 250 at my heaviest, only a few years ago. I’m now 216. I want to continue losing weight, therefore I want a partner to share my weight loss journey with and if he’s trying to lose weight too then we have some common grounds, which is a very attractive thing to me.

i think its to like ward of big women so they dont think they have a chance with them (even though they're in the same league) and so other people dont push them with fat girls. also skinnier guys would never be expected to date bigger people or be seen as in the same league as them so they dont need to be as mean or as vocal about how they dont like big girls. if they're nice to them its not going to give them the idea that they're interested. but in the end i dont think skinny guys think better stuff about overweight girls though

For the same reason fat women are so critical of fat men. Everyone is judgmental of fat women AND men.

It's interesting you say that athletic / thin men have been more appreciative of your body because the opposite is true in my personal experience. My guess is that, like many people here on GAG who make such generalizations and assumptions, you've had a few personal experiences and you're making assumptions about everyone based on those few experiences. It's like someone seeing a man win the lottery and saying "why is it always men who win the lottery?".

Not sure how true this is. Except for the part of thinner men being into you, that is usually pretty common for them to like bigger women. But I think it's more often big women being critical of big men. I get utterly surprised to see overweight chicks actually thinking they're in a position to choose or act like a big guy is beneath her.

I don't know, they have the same preferences as none fat guys. Ie they want attractive healthy and fertile girls. Natural instincts at work. But they aren't it themselves, so I guess they get picked on themselves and is just trying to pick on someone below them. Normal or attractive men has less need to push someone down to get somewhere. Only losers do.

There are too types of fat men, first those who inherited genes of increased appetite, or fat storing process. And those are fine.

The other type, are those who feel more special than anybody around them to move around enough, the self centered type who think their existence is such a bliss to produce more than consume.
And those are actually bad men!

Women also the same thing, but they should get less heat in both cases!
